Hi Amy ^_^ Wish you could go to the convention.I sent Ki a email with the times we will be there,I hope we can meet up at one point.That would be fun.

Theres another convention in Oct in your area,maybe you could go to that one?

I sure wish I could go ... somewhere, anywhere ... I need a vacation! I think I might plan a trip for the fall to visit my sister in North Georgia.

I walked around with this photo for 2 days before I found jan & tish! i had to leave today so my husband could get his car ready for his race Sat night, but I had a blast!
Plant people are very nice people!!!

kivit, more details please!! What did you bring home and what did Jan and Tish have? Jan had said she thought there would be lots of seed there............am itching to know what everyone found.

Gail, you will have to ask the others. I had a high number for the sale, so by the time I got in, lots were gone. I didnt see any seed, but that didn t mean there wasnt any. I left before the silent auction, so it may have been in that. I hope next time to be able to stay longer. I know there were suppossed to be lots of leaves from canada, but they werent on the sales tables.
and I left before goldleaf arrived which was disappointing. There were people frpom England, Canada, Russia & Australia. I got to meet Micheal Kartuz, Molly Howell, Kristina schmid-lots of others!! But the time was so short, I didnt even take pictures! jan & tish will have to add more info.

You mean you had to draw to get into the sales room??? I also have never heard of a silent auction either. Can't wait to hear from Jan. Goldleaf wasn't there if it makes you feel better than you didn't get to see her.

when you registered, you were assigned a number that went on your name card. So if you were the first to register, you got #1. i was in the 70's. there were over 300 at the convention-a record turnout.

the silent auction was friday after we left. you walked around the displays, and wrote down the number of each item you wanted to bid on. then you put your highest bid into an envelope & submitted it. at the end of the auction, the envelopes were opened.

I forgot who told me -tish?? - that goldleaf was coming on Saturday.

Hello folks ^_^,what a awesome week it was! The show plants was beautiful but I had some major camera problems so not many pictures to share.I hope ki will pop in a share some pictures.I bought a few kohleria,a couple chiritas,a few begonias and some rhizomes of different plants.Gail the seeds were the same ones as the website or gessie book.I did pick you up some Jack Evans red and purple sp seeds but I have to find them.LOL.

Keyring also found me at one of the lectures and that was pretty cool to meet someone you have talked to on the internet for a few years.She is a sweetie.Her group did a wonderful job hosting the convention.

This is a monster plant of sinningia speciosa Florianopolis.The picture doesn't do it justice.That plant,I bet was almost 2 feet wide.

Jan, so glad to hear from you!!!! Glad you had fun and I heard it was a giant convention.
I have seen a few pictures from various people and the plants were just too fine........want to grow every one of them!!

Thanks for looking for seed...........I should have known that they would have the same thing I can order from The Gesneriad Society. Keep those yourself and grow them as I need to make an order anyway. You are too sweet!! If you got the Jack Evans red and purple for you, too, then you know I would love to have them............but only if you got yourself some........

Hi Gail,I had a blast but I was happy when it was over.It was very tiring.I came home to a diaster in the plant room and as I look around more I can really see it was a big diaster.LOL.But thats ok,it will be fun rebuilding plants.I just checked the answering machine and got your message,was that todays? Call me back!

Jannich.........I was calling yesterday and today!!! I will call you tomorrow.........in the middle of planting. I am sorry about your plants but you ae right..........it is fun to rebuild.

Marjorie told me that it is best to turn off the lights for only a 2 or 3 day trip, but past that, she puts those plastic covers over her stands when she is going to be gone for a week or more. And...........she just turns the lights out completely.

Last time I let the girl down the road water and came home to all burned up plants.................I can't expect a 13 year old to know how to water inside gessies......so I take the blame. In fact, I don't even know anyone I could call or pay to take care of inside plants like I do..........

I am going to aim for Friday to get off to you some Tri color Stromanthes and some other goodies to start you up again.........smiling.........

I am so happy you had a good time!! What kind of a disaster?? I have plenty of extra Strep. leaves (and some with babies),some baby AVS,and I can take cuttings of lots of other things.Send me a Dmail when you have time!!

Lynn, I haven't talked to her yet, but I have a feeling her plants dried out as she has trouble with her air conditioning anyway..............
