Virus cuttings

Santa Ana, CA(Zone 10b)

While searching for an Aztec Gold cutting in Garden Watchdog, I found a place that was relativly local , so I went to their website http://www.plumeriaparadise.com/plumeria/index.php, and was surprised to see virus plants on pg 5 and pg 6 ! One them was really pretty, but would you buy such a thing? My knee-jerk reaction was that I wouldn't buy any cuttings from them.
I would like to hear what others have to say on the subject.
They only had 1 review in watchdog, and it was positive.
I'm also curious as to why Plumeria Gallery was selling on DG Marketplace last year, but doesn't appear in Watchdog. Any comments?

Carol,
The virus infected plants created quite a stir a few years back and people paid VERY high prices for cuttings of them. They liked the 'splash' or 'color break' effect. Then it became known that this is caused by a virus, and now most responsible growers shy away from them. There are still people out there who are charmed by this feature, though.

Is'nt there a chance they would infeck your other plants? That was my thought when I saw them.

Excuse the spelling and punctuation... I'm getting spoiled with spellcheck!

The infection usually occurs through 'exchange of fluids' like if you cut one plant and then the other with the same knife. It is generally considered a good idea to keep them away from your other plants though.
Personally, I won't have them in my yard.

Thank you for the input. I'm not sure I would buy anything from them. I'll keep searching. I noticed you had 2 cuttings in Marketplace, but I imagine they're gone by now.

I have a lot of cuttings on the Marketplace.
