Does anyone know why naked ladies that were planted 3 1/2 years ago and produce healthy leaves every year haven't bloomed? They are planted 5-6 in deep.
nonblooming Surprise lilies
Are you referring to the Amaryllis belladonnas? I know that they do sometimes take several years to start blooming. Maybe this fourth year is the magic year - in my area, they bloom around late August.. I would not give up on them yet. Most of mine are planted not very deep - in most cases the necks are exposed. But I have never heard that they are finicky about planting depths.

Has anyone had success with getting so called naked ladies to bloom? All I get are leaves.
Lvalentine - my naked ladies have bloomed every year for about the past 15-20 years in my present home. I have given many of the excess bulbs away. Sometimes they bloom the first year, sometimes not until the 3rd or 4th year since they do not like to be disturbed at the wrong time. After flowering (in August) is the best time to move them. I have them in mostly shade, part shade, sunny, some with water, some with no summer watering, and they seem to do fine. Maybe yours are still too young? Here's some photo from last year. This is under neath a cherry tree - mostly shaded.
When 'Nakid lily' is mentioned, I thought of these spider lilies. These too, bloom in the Fall here in my climate. Currently, however, the leaves area dorman (disappeared from view). I need to mark the earea so I don't disturb them since like the above, they cease to bloom when they're disturbed. Soilandup, I love yours. I can see why both are termed 'naked' since they both are dormant during the summer, and shoot up their 'surprise' flower stalks in the Fall. ^_^
