My lasia is blooming in the outdoor pond. This aroid is so very cool. Its aquatic, lives in a small inground pond. The bloom is twisted and over a foot tall
Lasia spinosa: bloom ober 12" tall!
Very strange looking, but very lovely at the same time :)
Only one question, where can I get one?
I got my original plant in South Florida. They come from Viet Nam and Southeast Asia. At one time I think only Dewey Fisk had them, then they got a bit more 'spread around'. They are still very hard to find and usually expensive. It was a complete surprise to me that it turned out to be hardy here in my zone, everyone said it was strictly zone 10-11. But I have had it outdoors and blooming in an outdoor pond going on 3 years in zone 8B on the cusp of zone 9
I checked it out and apparently there's a lot growing in Singapore. Got some friends going there in September, might be able to get me some seed. Never know your luck.
