My adult child lives in the same city I do and her house is nearby a family that leaves their cute, innocent, small dog outside for hours on end while they're away at work or whatever. It is tied to a phone pole or something like that on the back patio. My DD has noticed that at times it does not appear to have food or water and there is definitely no shelter---it has concrete as its prison. Tomorrow we're supposed to be having a heat warning...mid 90's with high humidity and this poor thing will probably be tied to a pole all day long.
I know our community has ordinances where an animal must have water and shelter at all times. Would you drop the owner an anonymous note in the mail making them aware of the animals needs, and the cities ordinance or would you contact the police department, or ?
Obvsiously, DD does not want to cause any rift with this neighbor, especially since their children play together at times. P.S. There have been coyotes seen in the neighborhood........
How would you handle? Thanks
