Oh my! I feel like the Through the Looking GLass rabbit! "I'm late....I'm late..."
I don't think I'll be on much at all for the summer. This upcoming few weeks will be soooooo buzy!
Yesterday at the Education Garden, my volunteer friends and I put finishing touches on the children's garden. Then at home I sent out the announcements (email) that I was ready to do tours. So now I have to be ready to go, basically with just a day or 2 notice. I'm excited but boy I'll be busy (I hope)! I ordered lasered beans that actually sprout out of the soil with the engraving on the first set of leaves. The laser on mine says "Bean" or "Ima Bean"! and they just came so one is planted for a demo.
Here's my plan.
1. Welcome, maybe pass out brochures from the Home Extension office, introducing the services they offer free.
2. Tour of all the garden areas (veggie garden, ornamental garden, Echinacea garden, Firewise garden, native garden, several kinds of compost bins, rain barrel, end up at children's garden) give out brochures that apply in each area.
3. Tour the Children's garden and discuss the plants - taste (herbs), touch (Sea Holly, pineapple, fuzzy leaved plants, slick leaved plants), smell (catnip, Anise hyssop, honeysuckle), crafts (Boo pumpkins, gourds, clay pot scarecrow) and awareness (poisonous plants that are local - I will have these potted or pics of them - no touchy!).
4. End with "The plant that says it's name" ( Bean plant that says Bean or Ima Bean). I will show them the one I planted, that will hopefully have it's name on the cotyledon, which is the first leaf or leaves in the embryo of seed plants.
I will give them each a styrofoam cup, and have them fill it from the finished compost pile, and plant a bean, and water it.
Then to finish off, for the Homeschool groups, I will offer the parent a chance to close the fieldtrip with a fitting message and prayer.
They are then welcome to stay and picnic if they like.
Tomorrow I'm offering to answer phones in the office again, if they need me. Got to get those volunteer hours in! While there I'll gather brochures to have on hand. I also need to design and print fliers and web page lists (for info) and services list (things they get free from the Home Extension office)
I also need to
1. Finish shopping and planning Crystal's bday (June 23). Kevin is coming and he'll grill and I'll do everything else. Still have to buy gifts.
2. Reserve a room for the Highschool reunion in Pennsylvania. I also need to buy clothes for that trip, need something nicer than what I have. And plan/pack. We're going the 1st week of July for a week. Just Larry and I! O dear, what will we do??????
3. Just found out tonight that he wants to take me to the huge Hall family reunion in Oklahoma and that's the 2nd week of July.
4. Plan and prepare for Larry's family reunion in Pennsylvania mid August - the girls are coming with us this time.
In the midst of all this I have to get in about 30 volunteer hours.
And the end of August I need to start working on Child Evangelism Fellowship stuff.
And now it's midnight. I wonder why I'm tired?
Just to let you all know......
oh my Peggy good luck try to take some time for your self we all need down time to rest ;0)

You'll need plenty of energy drinks...LOL :)
So at least we'll know "why" your missing in action!
Have a Beautiful Summer!

Keep up the good work, but remember you need some time for yourself to recharge.
