I like hoyas that are ;different', so when my Krimson Queen started putting out some solid dark maroon leaves, I didn't really mind...I thought it would pass and the variegation would return on subsequent leaves so I left it.
But, ummmm, it's kinda gotten out of control and has put out 2 whole branches of nothing but solid pink leaves.
My question is, is this BAD? SHould I cut these off? I know that this is the same thing really as what happens when my ALocasia macro albo variegata starts putting out solid white leaves...they don;t photosynthesize and have to be removed. But these Hoya branches seem very strong.
What should I do?
All Pink leaves: is this bad??
Mine did that last summer when I put it outside, they'll develop the proper variegation as they get older...no worries. I lost mine to mealies and it was one of my favourites.
Oh, it would kill me to cut off those beautiful pink leaves but if the majority of them turn pale pink it may cause a problem with photosynthesizing, I don't know. That foliage is just so pretty. I wonder if you could removed the stems with the pink leaves, would they root and survive?
It sure is a pretty plant ... would be wonderful if someone could hybridize one with permanent pink foliage!
