Harvesting Dill????

Columbus, OH(Zone 5b)

How do you harvest dill?
If I cut off several ferny stocks will it grow more branches, stock...frons... whatever you call them?
Or is dill a one time deal... grow, cut and plant another?

Beleive it is a one time thing. When i was making pickels I grew 5 to 10 plants.

If you are growing dill for leaf, you can harvest a few fronds at a time and they will grow back. If you are harvesting the dill seeds or the whole head for pickling, I've not had a head grow back. But, maybe I don't have a long enough growing season??

thank you, actually I was harvesting the leaf on a few of the plants and have left some of the other plants to flower.
I was pretty sure the flowering dill was a one time shot, I wasn't sure about the leaf.

Fern leaf dill stays in leafy form longer and gets bushier than the regular dill, but all will eventually flower. When dill begins to form the flowers it goes really fast and seems to stop making leaf. I like to plant lots of the regular, mine gets really big and beautiful. Then I take the leaf stocks to use fresh and to dry until the flowers begin to form and grow tall. I usually let the seed drop in the fall so that it will reseed and just come up here and there.
I love fresh dill with new potatoes. Yum

Sounds yummy! You can dry the whole fronds. I put a paper towel in a basket or on a plate. Lay the fronds back and forth so they aren't touching much. Lay another paper towel over that and put it somewhere out of the way----I put mine on top of the microwave. In a few days, check them. When dry, remove from the stems and bag for winter use. Seems easier than driers and even microwaving. They just dry all by themselves.
