Silkies fitting in quite well

Bridgewater, ME

They have been togather now for three nights and they closer and closer every night to the bigger hens. One silkie hen in on the second roost down for the top and the rooster and the other hen are on the third from the top.The one on the floor was late comming in so she lost her place, when I went out to check later she was with the silkie hen roosting next to her. This putting them togather went better than I thought it would.

Glad they are getting along.
We have a little Blue Cochin hen that just stays in the yard, she doesn't have a pen. At night sometimes she wants in the henhouse. We put her in and she will crawl up under the big hens. So cute.

I just recently put a bunch of six week olds in with a flock of four month olds and stuck around to watch how things went. As usual the little ones had to wait on the larger and older hens when it came to feeding time, but even at that everyone got along just fine. It sure is true sometimes their are those that don't want to share and like to bully and be mean spirited! but often times they do just fine also. Bullying, mean spirited, gosh that sounds more like the humanoids doesn't it. LOL Have a wonderful day. Haylstack

Humanoids huh? It is funny the personalities that chickens have. There are those sweet gentle ones and there there are the ones that are, well, not so sweet.

I want a couple of silkie hens!! I'm glad they're doing well Green. My new trio hasn't had any issues fitting in with the rest of the flock either. thank goodness!

I had to move them out monday and put them in the same coop but in there own space because the hens were picking on the hens terrible, holding them down and pecking them on the head, the rooster was fine because he stood up to them right away but I put him in with the girls,I think they fell safer with him in there with them they stick to him like glue. One went broody so I had to go get to fertile silkie eggs for her to sit on as she was sitting on air.
