My new favorite Anthurium andreanum

Gainesville, FL

I lusted after this anthurium for 2 seasons, watching it sell over and over on eBay from a vendor in HI for lots of money (more than I wanted to spend, LOL)

I finally got one as a trade and this is its first bloom.

Its the most unique one I have seen in years. I can;t wait til it gets really big and is loaded with blooms! Thanks all.

That one is special! I wish I had more luck with Anthuriums. I've had a few over the years (none as gorgeous as 'Shibori') and they live maybe two or three years and then all of a sudden take a nose dive until they get to looking so ratty that I throw them out.

Nice cultivar, and a rare one!

It's proper epithet is Anthurium x ferrierense 'Shibori', or simply Anthurium 'Shibori'.
Anthurium andraeanum is a wild species from Columbia and Ecuador.

Thanks for that correction! I will change my tag (so the squirrel will know what it is when he takes the tag, LOL)

It's always best to know the correct nomenclature, something I always
appreciate -- but it still doesn't help me find one of those!

Goth,

How do you grow yours? Like an adraeanum?
