Is There a Different Veitchii Than This ?

Is there a different Anthurium veitchii than this one that
has every leaf turned backward but the new one?

Every photo I have seen of this plant presents a better image
than this one that is just all over the place!

Looking at your plant makes me wonder if you have a pure A. veitchii or whether you have one of the A. veitchii hybrids that are out there. Someone, perhaps more than one person, has done hybrids between A. veitchii and some of the ornamental or "flowering" Anthuriums. A plant that turns the leaves upward as yours does is definitley atypical for A. veitchii. Has your specimen bloomed yet?

LariAnn

It blooms often. Here is a bud not yet open. It will
be small and white.

This looks like a pure species to me specially the bloom. Their is however a few clones. The best clone is possibly the Ecuador form.

I am starting to *hate* this plant.
Every leaf turns upside down and they reach out in
all directions.

It's crazy!

I just want one that has the regular leaves that stay
in a normal position.

Brian,

How does one find the Ecuador form?

I believe only a few rare plant nurseries carries it. Unfortunately the clone that was TCed was not the best form and many people use photos of the better form to sell the TCed plants. Ecuagenera maybe the only current source I know. Possibly Enid at Natural Selections may have it as well.

Here is a photo of a friends plant. This was well grown in his greenhouse in south Florida. The plant is much different than the regular form the ripples are smaller and their are many more per leaf. The leaf also tends to be narrower and usually longer growing. I don't currently have photos of both plants side by side but it would be an interesting shot.
