Yeah! my (outdoor) cyclamen are waking up! I didn't kill them! Anyone else growing these little jewels? Well, right now they are ugly ducklings. This is a first for me. Do I have enough soil up on them? I cut back the winter honeysuckle growing over them (sorry Chantell!) to give them a bit more sun and hope I didn't blow.
cyclamen
You cut back WHAT!?!? LOL Tell me it isn't so....
Just a few of the many branches....it's still there!
Well, I had a pretty little cyclamen that my DH gave me one year. It had blooms with a slight fragrance ... almost baby powder? Anyway, it died, so I told the DH I wanted another if he ever saw one. This year he came home with 3. They're nothing like the one I had before. Same shaped leaves ... but leathery in comparison ... they aren't petite and haven't bloomed either. Guess I should have done some research to see what variety I had.
Ahhh a hubby that buys plants for gifts...does he have a single brother, by chance? ^_^
Sheesh....must be nice!!! LOL YOU deserve it, though, my friend!!!
He sounds quite keepable!!! If you could train him to read labels you'd be set! My DH knows he is better off just to give me the $ and push me towards the nursery.
There are two main 'types' of cyclamen, one is the 'florist' that blooms in the winter but we had better keep inside. The other is the perennial that we can plant outside. Not all of both types are fragrant.
Ah, I'm thinking the first one was the pretty little fragrant one. I kept it indoors until I got the bright idea to set it outside and managed to forget it. I was a bad plant Mommy and it was killed by an unexpected frost last year. He went out this spring and purchased 3 of these in different colors to replace it, but they're not at all the same. I'll definitely be on the look out for one like the original. Thanks for telling me that! :-)
Don't you hate when that happens? We've all been guilty of it though...know i have.
