Summer just a few days away
A few days away? Its been summer here for, oh about 3 months now, LOL. (As I hug the AC and threaten to have a heat stroke in the yard). My electric bill definitely says 'summer'.
We were at a going away party for a friend who is moving last night that was held outside on the patio of a local restaurant and it was still 92F at 7pm. They are originally from Maine. Her brother had flown down for the party and was about to die. He said the high the day he left Maine was 63F.
It's been a cool spring here, I guess how it's SUPPOSED to be finally. Things are slow to go crazy here. Can't wait for Summer and some HEAT.
Heats a coming.94* here today, might get to 100* by Wednesday!
Its 7:14am and I am about to go out for a 10 mile run, its already 75F with 90% humidity. Ugh. But I'm tough, LOL
I'll say!!!
Ten miles, would kill me if even I just had to walk it!!!!LOL
It was pretty much hell. It was 84F when I got back. My house thermometer read 98 this afternoon before it rained.
Looks great Tropicman....! I really like that arch..is that a willow arch?
Oh, you've had rain today Gothqueen (Rj said with envy).
It's been 97F everyday...not a drop of rain all June, and none in the extended forecast. Our low's are higher than many folks high's.
Our rain chances are really going away quickly, only 20% chances for the next 5 or so days. We get lucky and get afternoon thunderstorms sometimes, like today. It was a fast and dirty rain, not the long lingering soaking rain we really want, but I will take ANYTHING. The heat stress in my greenhouse on my orchids can be extreme, sometimes I have to go water the mounts twice a day. I have a 15 mile run planned for Thursday, I am going to try to leave the house before sun up.
It is suppose to be 95 and96 here, Thursday and Friday. I'll be hugging the airconditioner too those days. They have had baseball ans softball size hail all around me for 2 days but thank God, it missed us. But the rain did too. Everything is hot and dry here. I'd be glad to have the 63s back.
good luck on the run!
I've had to put the mist sprayer on the tree fern 10 mins 3 times a day...otherwise the fronds fry
How can you run 15 miles in this heat?
You run further than I drive in a day! Almost more than I drive in a week!!!!LOL
RJ,thats whats left over from a dead red grape vine, haven't had the courage to pull it down, thought I'd let mother nature do it!
Rained last night like buckets coming down, raining now 5 mile south of me now,can see the lightning and hear the thunder!!!
Forecasting 98* tomorrow,humidity 100%
I am pretty acclimatized to the heat. This mileage is rough but its nothing like what I will have to do in August and September to finish up training for the Marine Corps Marathon in October...then I will be doing 20, 22 and 24 mile runs and THAT gets pretty scary in this heat. I carry a 20 oz bottle of Power Aid anda lso carry the little powder packets to make more...I stop and refill my bottle at grocery store water fountains along the route and throw in the electrolyte powder. I end up drinking 80-100 oz of fluid on those runs. I also use carbohydrate gels, one per hour of running.
When I run down by the University and through some older neighborhoods I get to see lots of nice plants though so its okay, LOL
Well that makes the run well worth it to see beautiful gardens!!!
