help with hummingbird ID

Atlanta, GA

Hey, I live in Atlanta and I have a hummingbird that I can't identify (not surprising, since my hummingbird ID skills are limited to the ruby-throated and the purple-throated hummingbirds), and I was hoping someone could help. This one is very small, maybe three inches in body length, with practically no tail. The beak is at least as long as the body. On throat and underside of the body, the color is a uniform greyish-white, no banding or actual colors. The back, head and general bodycolor, from what I can tell, is a dull (by which I mean not iridescent like a ruby-throated), dark green or black, and leaves an impression of purple tints. I'm not sure if I have one or two of them, but I see this bird everyday, midday or evening or both. And my descriptions come from an observation distance of 4 feet max, with the occasional run-in at 2 feet. Any ideas? I'll try to get a photo.

marsinger,

Here's an addy with pics of many. Scroll down below the nest and you can click on dozens of pics of various hummers. Hope that helps...
