a friend of mine asked what can be done to remove these things from his lawn. i went on line and they said that chemicals have little effect on them because the roots go to deep into the ground. anyone have any ideas. thanks
mushrooms on the lawn
It depends what kind of mushroom it is. There is a "Fairy Ring"- a circular pattern on mushrooms which is a problem- I think it is a fungus- you can google it- and others are just growing as organic matter decomposes. In the community where I live, the new lawn sod has lots of small brown ones, and the landscaper says it is because the sod was grown in an old potato farm and there is a lot of sulfur in the soil, and when that leaches away the mushrooms will go away. So check and see just what it is before doing anything.
thanks
We had the same problem last year - a large, rapidly growing patch of mushrooms growing in our yard, and was told to carefully pick each mushroom and place it in a brown grocery bag to be put in a plastic bag and thrown away when done. We were told to pick them very gently and carefully so as to not spread any more spores - thus causing more mushrooms to grow. This worked very well and this year I've only seen a couple mushrooms....which we picked and threw away. ......I'm real pleased with the results of that technique. ....Before we got this advice, we were just mowing them when we cut the grass and they were spreading like wildfire! Big no no....
Hope this helps. :)
