Beauty has 2 babies

Conroe, TX

This is our Silkie, Beauty. Two of her babies hatched last night and this morning. She has 2 more eggs under her.
Check out the light faced one. Not sure who the parents are for that one. The body is dark, legs are dark as well. It looks sort of like an owl. There are stripes by the eyes.

I love that pic, she is a beauty and the babies are adorable, are there two more egg's under her? We have a black silkie just like her, but she never lays a clutch, she just lays one egg and sits there forever.. She got up this morning to get a drink and my bantie Seabright got on her nest and the war was on. Mom to be finally won the battle. Whew. Haystack

Yes there are two more eggs under her. None are her eggs though, we just stuck full size chicken eggs under her.
One of our Birchen Cochins went broody yesterday, so my husband put some eggs under her. She had 4 Birchen eggs but he doesn't want anymore small chickens so he took those out before they could germinate (we already have a brood of banties).
Is your Sebright broody? We had two Sebright hens but a hawk killed one, then we hatched another two (under a Silkie) and a snake got one, the one that lived is a hen so now we have two hens again.

The literature says Sebrights are not broody, but mine is pretty much broody 75% of the time. She has hatched out several chicks--none hers.

Thanks Catscan for that info. Our Sebright hasn't shown any signs of being broody so I was kind of curious if they ever are or if Sebright chicks just tend to get hatched by other mothers. All our other bantams except one has been broody and hatched chicks, some more than once. It has been a busy hatching season here.

Those are darling babiez!! Is there an EE in the mix somewhere? Love the eyeliner! LOL

All these broody hens.. Wish I had one that would stick!

Congratulations on the darling babiez.. I sure enjoy the pics!

Okay pardon my stupidity, but what is an EE?

It has been unbelievable how many broodies we have had this year. Most have been bantams, only two were full sized hens. We have 6 Silkies and all have sat on eggs and hatched chicks, some more than once. We have 4 Blue Cochins and 3 hatched chicks and out of our 3 Birchen Cochins 2 have hatched chicks and one is back on eggs again. Maybe I need to blow some of that broody air we must have here your direction.
