I'm just wondering how everybody got through last night's storms? It was crazy here I kept telling my kids that I had a bad feeling about the weather and the hair was standing up on my arms. (I can also douse) . Anyway, we were at basketball practice and had to drive home 6 miles when it hit. I realize that we need the rain but this is a liitle much.

severe storm in central texas Thursday night
I am glad you made it o.k. we got no rain here at DFW last night.
Here we got sheets of lightning, rain and thunder all night long and into the day Thursday. No power at the office (in Canton) from 1:30AM through around 6:30 PM Thursday. Luckily that was the only damage--(if you can call sitting in the office with no air conditioning or phones damage)--to speak of.
Here we go again. So much for no chance of rain. I have lived in TX for 16 years after moving here from SO CA. I will take an earthquake over a tornado any day.
terri- I consider sitting anywhere in TX with out an air conditioner damage.

Hey 1lisac, are you near Spicewood in the Hill Country? I am 40 miles west of Ft Worth on the Hood County Line and we have been nailed 3 times in 2 weeks. I'm tired! That storm was a Monster here and I think it was headed your way. I lived in CA years ago and I know where you are comming from on the fear factor.LOL My best friend from childhood lives in Spicewood and I thought I had seen Liberty Hill around that area. Our power was out all night but thank the Good Lord it was repaired by 8 AM. We are way out in the country and those men work hard to get power back on when we are looking at high 90 temps with 106 heat index. No AC in those temps with 95% humidity can make you melt! Yep Major damage for sure! I forgot what just a nice rain can be like as it allways seems to bring Buddie's like Hail,High winds and Twisters. I don't even have to call my Tree guys anymore as if we have a storm they just know I will give them work and I love them for that. My Hubby had surgery last week and it is making him crazy as he would normally be taking care of all the downed trees himself. Thank goodness we have a burn pit as these guys would have to charge a lot more to haul all this away. Spring in Texas WILL very seldom be boring!
Bless you my dear, you are going though a hard time, I hope things change soon.
Josephine.
I'm actually West of Georgetown and East of Bertram but way out in the country. It is so strange to me how the storms can just come out of "no where". Except for a few large trees and tomatos cage getting blown over the only other damage was my nerves. My body can "feel" the storm coming even when the weather report says no rain. LOL
Stay safe,
Lisa
Down here by the Bay (Seabrook, 9a), we actually got up at around three in the morning to stand out back and watch the light show. It was virtually continuous for a solid hour, cloud-to-cloud and the kind that lights up the back of the clouds and moves slowly across the sky. At this point the storm was out in the Gulf and we were thirty miles away so it was not raining here at the moment, nor could we hear the thunder. I've never seen anything quite like it before.
We had that happen on Wed. night. We saw the lightening and it was really bright and constant. The storm was moving from west to east so we didn't get any rain and didn't hear any thunder. The storm was in Temple, don't know how far that is. I don't ever remember seeing so much lightening but not hearing any thunder but it was beautiful.

We ended up with both. The lighning show went on for several hours and then the winds shifted and the rains blew in. Sure made for a lovely sunset on Thursday :) !
