Dyckia platyphylla

Covington, LA(Zone 8b)

This is my d. platyphylla today. It has 2 crowns and is very heavy.

This the same plant when I bought it in 2006.

This is when the crown doubled later in 2006.

D. platyphylla is one of my favorite plants. It has made several pups. The pups must be removed to keep the shape of the plant. This is easier to do in a pot. And, yes, it is as tough as it looks!

Does anyone have photos of dyckias to share?

Here's one that's a no ID. Multiplies like crazy. Very small teeth on leaves that don't bite. Anyone want to trade?

rbtkew,
How beautiful!!! I wish I could see Kew Gardens. It must be the most fantastic experience for a gardener. I doubt that my pots will produce such fine specimans but one must try anyway.
Thanks, Johanna

Thanks for the nice photos, turtlewalker. I have bought from you on ebay. You always send nice plants.
I would like to plant dyckias in large pots and leave them out for winter. Would this work in 8b?
