Sorry, no pics (before anyone points out the obvious). However, I came home today to find the leaves on my Brugs resembling Swiss cheese. when I turned the leaves over, each had a tiny bright green skinny caterpillar/worm on the underside. I picked them off, but wow, there were alot of them. Any idea what it is?
Whats Eating My Brugs???
ok, from all appearances, it seems it be an Inchworm. Now.. how to best get rid of it?
I had them as well.i lifted up each leaf and sprayed with "safer soap" it killed them all. I think butterfly's lay there eggs on the plants,i've seen lots of them just hovering about them.
Thanks, maybe I'll try a soap and water solution and see if that helps
I have baby slugs that I am doing battle with..they do not eat slug bait. So I am spraying with ammonia and water mix. The leaves look just like yours belle.
belladonna, looks like yours could be Inchworm as well. Look under the leaf. Look very carefully, they are good at camouflage! it took a few times before i spotted them, now I can see them almost instantly when i flip the leaf over. sometimes they look like they are part of the leaf vein, so look really hard...LOL. The other day, i found at least one on almost every single leaf!
Darn things... why cant they leave my poor brugs alone!
I hate to spray them! I used to have guineas and chickens and they were good at keeping all the bugs at bay. I just ordered some praying mantis from the bugfarm. Maybe that will help too. I will add some soap to my spray. I guess I need to spray daily instead of every three days.
Thanks ladies!
I just bought a brug the other day. I have been growing them for about 6 years and haven't added any or had any success with adding any. I'll get up early and do battle with the bugs.
Seems like ammonia would hurt the plant?
Last year I didn't have this problem. It must be the extra rain.
Beautiful brug! It is a weak solution I found after searching how to kill baby slugs. I think ammonia is a source of nitrogen.
Ok I'll look it up. Thanks!
