I just transplanted a hosta and a fern in full shade. Now I'm wondering if perhaps I shouldn't have done that.
The hosta looks like the ones found here:

And the fern looks like this:

Will they be okay? The fern is under a few trees. The hosta is more exposed but still full shade. I will try to take photos today.
Thanks,
Nadine
Full Shade?
I've had plenty of hostas and ferns flourish in full shade. They seemed quite happy. :)
Thanks Pony! I'm hoping they'll be happy.
All hostas grow well in shade, in my experience, it's just that some can HANDLE sun.
Wonderful! Thanks!
Nadine, The bad part of our wonderful world is that "part shade" ususally means give it plenty of sun. Fortunately with hostas and ferns, they are usually very flexible. Don't worry about having moved them....they will definitely be fine. I will tell you though, that most of my hostas have done better with "part shade" in my world. Just keep an eye on them this season and see how they do. If their growth habbits disapoint you, move them to a sunnier location.
That's a good suggestion. I'll keep an eye on both and see how they do. Today is the first sunny day in almost a week. I will check to see if any sun gets to these areas. Thanks!
