Wheel Bug (Arilus cristatus)
found one on my porch. zapped it to death. according to most of you guys, you say its bite hurts like heck. glad i killed it.
friend called it assaaain beetle or assassin bug or something like that. is it also called that?
plz give some confirmation. thanks.
I have pecan trees so have many of these friendly wheel bugs. Yes, they are one of many "assassin" bugs since they dine on other bugs. I have one grandson bitten on the hand by one and it definitely hurt, but he was playing with it a little to aggessively. I've had them crawl all over my arms and never been bitten.
