Cooties - please help!!

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Was lucky enough to get in on a Liddle co-op through another site. Everything seemed fine when they arrived approx. a month ago. Luckily I had them away from my other plants. It's no excuse but we all get busy and I'd not checked on these during the day - with good light...last week I noticed "I've got a problem" and now they look even worse. Please help!! If more/different pics are needed please let me know....

Some of these shots are of the same plant - just trying to show clearly what's going on w/them....

I'm pretty sure that isn't a bug issue. looks more like bruising to me. Remember, those poor cuttings went through a lot to get from Australia to you!!

Oh I'd be so relieved if it were something along those lines...!!!!

Some of my cuttings had the same thing. I figure it was because they probably got banged up from being tossed all over the world.

I just don't remember them having marks like that when they arrived...maybe a delay of sorts???

Could be...it takes a bit from bang to bruise. You're keeping them warm right? Virginia...probably very warm. Just keep an eye on them. Even if you lose a leaf or two they'll still sprout new growth.

Whew...thank you...temps haven't been cold...house is kept around 70 F my room might be a tad warmer...

Yep... physical damage often takes a couple/few weeks to show itself.

!!! NAN !!! You still owe me a pic...LOL

Don't I know it...but DS still hasn't sent me my photos from the card he took!
I won't forget, I promise! (Ü)

Chantell,

Nan and Three are right. They are necrotic spots
probably from an insult (injury or bruise) to the leaf.

Some cut them out. I have never have done it. Anecdotally,
most very succulent leaves will live on with a scar, and thin
ones often fall.

The rigors that DL has to go thru to ship plants would eliminate ANY insects, fungi, 'cooties'. The fact that they arrived alive is a blessing...and it looks as if you are doing a good job growing them out. Now, please remember, plants have their own defense system and they deal with bruises and bumps in a 'plant' way, not a human way. Only if it starts spreading would I worry....and you can be darn sure it would be something picked up HERE rather than something send from Australia.

Also remember that your cuttings are coming from a place sliding into winter...they adjust....

I can't tell you all how excited I am to hear all of this. I was really getting a bit anxious - which now I realize how foolish that was given what you explained, Carol. BTW - I hope I didn't offend anyone...since the kids were little "cooties" was used to explain just about anything real or not. I only knew all my plants - including those from you, Carol, were spot free...and no buggies - to my knowledge at least...so I panicked. Thank you all for your patience and reassurance!!!
Hugs!!

We talk cooties here, too!!! LOL

It is alarming when something happens we don't understand...especially when it comes halfway around the world!!!

Take care,
Carol
