CLOSED: Question about pregnant bird who abandoned nest

Westford, MA(Zone 6a)

This thread isn't about bird identification, but a question about nest habits.

Every year, sparrows build a nest in one of the hanging containers on my front porch. Since I don't know how long a sparrow lives, I have no idea if it's the same mama bird or if her one of her female offspring comes back, or if they just spread the word in sparrowland that it's a cool and sheltered place to have babies.

This year, as always, nest building began mid May, and there should be eggs, even hatchlings, by now. But not this year. So I am wondering why she abandoned her nest.

Toward the end of May, we had a frost warning one night, and I brought all the plants inside. One night only. Could that have been the night she was going to lay her eggs? :(

I wonder what would have happened to her if she had no place to go that night. Does anyone know?

Birds lay one egg daily until they have a clutch .. Then they start the incubation process..Usually lay early in the day..

Thanks. If time was up for her to lay that first egg early in the morning (before I put the plants back outside), I suppose she was forced to find another spot.
