Hello everyone,
I have what I suppose is a Dieffenbachia in bloom and I am hoping someone can ID it for me. There is also an Anthurium I don't have a name for. The pics are here: http://picasaweb.google.com/robert.m.lawless/NoIDPlants#
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert
Update: I had a period after the #, that's why the link wasn't working correctly. I removed it and the link should work now.

Dieffenbachia (?) and Anthurium ID help needed
Sorry Robert, I can't get the photos to load through your link.
Can you post photos directly to DG?
I have picasa - you need to click on the little grey picture near the top right where it says "Photos by Robert ". Try this link instead, it should work http://picasaweb.google.com/robert.m.lawless THEN click on the third album across.
Ciao, KK.
Whoops, sorry about that. I'm still getting used to using Picasa. Thanks for clearing that up KK.
Thanks KK!
The Dieffenbachia looks like Dieffenbachia seguine 'Exotica'.
I don't see an Anthirium in the four given photos.
If you click on the diffenbachia you will find 11 photos in the album underneath it! including the Anthirium!
The Anthurium is an A. andreanum hybrid; there are so many of them out there now that getting more definitive than that is nearly impossible. I've seen several that look very similar to yours and don't know the parentage on any of them.
LariAnn
Thanks Metrosideros, it does look like Exotica. I also think it looks like Sparkles. Many of the D. cultivars are too similar for me to differentiate.
I figured the Anthurium ID was a long shot LariAnn. My best guess from googling is 'White Heart': http://www.oglesbytc.com/oglesby_details.asp?TF_ID=3029
Many thanks to you both and KK for link help!
Robert
Thanks for the additional info on how to work the links!
The Anthurium is Anthurium x ferrierense 'Album'.
Anthurium andraeanum is a wild species from the Pacific slope of Columbia and Ecuador. Anthurium andraeanum is routinely used by horticulturalists for cultivated hybrids, but it is not legitimate to use the name for two different taxa. The wild species was described first under that name.
Anthurium x ferrierense (the proper term for cultivated hybrids) is a complex hybrid which involves A. andraeanum crossed with A. hoffmannii and A. nymphaeifolium.

Am I the only person in SW Florida (Fort Myers) that's into Aroids? Would love to hear from others in my area!
Marianne
Thanks for the info Dave!
You're very welcome!
