I just read an article that discussed garden plants that are toxic to dogs. It said there was one variety of hibiscus that is toxic. I've got several hibiscus now, but I don't want to put my dogs at risk. Does anyone know which variety(ies) are toxic to dogs?
Thanks much. Sarah
Hibiscus toxic to dogs?
Hi Sarah
Mine love's to eat the blooms, but they are the hybrids. It's what she waits for every day. LOL However I am not sure about other species of hibiscus. Someone may pop in here.
Robert
Hi Robert,
I don't have any blooms this year yet, except on the Rose of Sharons, so I'm not sure whether my dogs like them or not. I just wouldn't want them to take a bite of a leaf if it were toxic.
Thanks for your reply.
I did read this:

My dog has never bothered my hibiscus, though. He would rather mark them on occaision. (brat)
thanks pam
Maybe my abby needs to change her diet
