Potting soil

Caddo Mills, TX(Zone 8a)

What kind of potting soil do you use? I've been using Miracle-Gro but it seems more like mulch than soil.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

I make my own from partially composted pine bark and a little peat and perlite.

Most of my containers are self-watering, and Gardener's Self-Watering Container Mix out-performs Miracle-Gro which I also use. Of course they are not the same and not fair to compare. I have also started using coco coir. My tomatoes seem really happy. Hope this helps.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I use Premier PROMIX BX. I add smart cote slow release fertilizer to all container as well.

Poughkeepsie, NY(Zone 6a)

Pro mix for me.

I use Promix, too, but for larger pots find it's best to mix 1/3 fine pine mulch into it for anything but small pots or short term situations. Among other benefits it provides, the pine mulch keeps promix from "collapsing" over time in larger pots (especially where it remains wet for extended periods), and is a useful addition even for small pot mix.

Huntersville, NC

am looking for a good potting soil.
havent seen Premier PROMIX BX.

where would I find this?? is Premier PROMIX BX considered organic??

Vieques, PR

Premier has antifungal additive in it, I believe. For purists, that might disqualify it, but given that "organic" has no absolute definition, it shoudln't, IMHO.
