sparrows eating heartleaf ice plant

San Angelo, TX(Zone 7b)

I know this is a bird watching forum, but I'm watching sparrows eat my heartleaf ice plant. I think they are after the moisture in the leaves.
How do I keep them away and save my plant?
Thanks and if I'm in the wrong place please direct me to the right one:)

Hi Elizabeth, How big is the plant?

I'm sure someone can figure something out.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Can you provide them with water? Even a tray would work in a pinch...

San Angelo, TX(Zone 7b)

It's in a hanginging pot outside and WAS a good size. I have mainly the stems left on half of the plant.
I'm trying a fake snake inside the plant and I set up a make shift bird bath. They are just real thristy.
I hope this works. I want the birds to get some water since it's sooo hot outside.
Thanks for the help, Elizabeth
