Hi, I went camping this weekend and saw many birds(chestnut sided warbler, solitary vireo, blackburnian warbler, osprey, and more). There was one that I couldn't find in my book. I thought the stripe through the eye and the black stripe on the tail would help, but no luck yet. I am thinking it is some kind of flycatcher or vireo, but it didn't match any in my books which don't always show female and immature versions. Sorry for the poor photo quality, but he was flitting around so much, more like a warbler than a flycatcher.

Red-eyed Vireo is a good bet. The black stripe on the tail looks like a shadow to me, because it's not in the same spot in both pics.
Thanks. I thought the tail stripe was there, but you may be right. It looks nothing like the one in my books, but looking at many photos of red eyed vireos online at your suggestion, I did find one that appears very similar.
Ditto to Red-eyed Vireo

Thanks to both of you. As I said, it did not look like the ones in my book, but another web site had a photo that was very close. I appreciate your help. First Red eyed-vireo for me. Saw a Philidelphia Vireo last year in Northern NH.
