Sad news about the paint silkie,I went in the coop yesterday and one of the broodies had killed 5 newly hatched chicks, one was still alive so I brought it in and it is under the heater and made it through the night.I have no idea who done it or why, I did take out 3 of the broodies and put them in another coop and took the rest of the paint eggs and put them under my 4 year old silkie that I hand raised and has had many hatches and is a good mom.I will put the house one under her tonight. So hoping for more hatches so this one will not be alone.I did see blood on one of the silkies face only because she is white, she and the other two are now in another coop, dont know if the other two had anything to do with it or not.I know when they start killing a chick its almost like a shark attack they all join in,I did see that last year and managed to save the chick from them. You would think silkies would be the last to do this but sadly not true.I did google it and it happens a lot. Then on top of that my bantam cochin rooster that I gave to my friend that loved him as much as I did died of a stroke yesterday, dont know why that happened either he was only 2 and very well taken care of.She was devastated as well as she was going to use him for breeding next spring. We have put $909.00 in our dog Tilley this month, she has thyroid issues,a skin infection and had to have her teeth cleaned. Her shampoo was $46.00 plus all the pills she has to take. But I guess when you have animals you have to take the best care of them as you can. There goes my new chair that I have wanted for so long, lol
