It was Punahou, a private school, and when they were in full bloom it was beyond RIDIULOUS!! This is one of the plants that takes me back to my youth in tropical plant heaven. That and my great grandmother's fence that was literally dripping with stephanotis blooms.. I'd even encounter this cereus while hiking mountain ridges, growing wild. Boy sure do wish I had appreciated how special all that was while living there!! Attached some pics of the Punahou cereus. Just googled it and the old black and white photo is circa 1900. It was already well established, wouldn't you say ;) |
