If they were in my area, I would have to be careful that the pumpkin bug didn't come in and take over. When you do harvest them, leave part of the stem in tack - as they will keep longer that way. I'm sure their skin is so hard by now that you cannot pierce it with your fingernail? That is a good indicator for me on maturity and harvest of pumpkins and winter squash. Some pumpkins are better for eating than others. I like to decorate with my pumpkins, then eat them later (multi purpose). I like to save the seed and roast them (but again some varieties have better seed for eating than others). Did you buy it for a eating pumpkin? Happy Pumpkin Harvest! |
