Hi guys

I have a Gloxinia that began dying on me (leafs soft, curling, withering) and I tried saving it with leaf cuttings. Three of them did not take, and the last seems to be doing well.

I left one leaf on the original plant because I thought it looked like it was still alive, even though the stem seemed to be dying. As you can see in the picture, the stem has in fact died and even dried out (red arrow). Yet the original leaf has grown and so has another. In addition, there is even a cluster of new leaf budding.

My question is:

1. Will this plant eventually die out?
2. If so, should I cut those leaves and try for leaf cuttings?
3. If I do that for the two, what about the remaining cluster of budding leaves?
4. Or should I cut above the dried part of the stem, and use the alive end for planting?
5. What IS keeping this plant alive? I cannot understand how it's getting any nutrient when the stem has dried out.

Thanks!
