I read above you are going to add some bacteria. Would one of you please explain what that is and what it does? I have had this pond for 12 years, and never did anything but clean it. I started losing some fish this last winter and started reading about ponds. I guess I was just lucky. Late last summer I found a dead ferret in the bottom of the pond. Now I suspect it probably died because of rat poisoning because some of our neighbors use it. After that was when the fish started dying. One weekend 6 Koi died. Maybe too many Koi on such a small pond.
