In practice you kind of take turns each partner lets themselves be thrown at some point giving way to the other person. Each practicing throwing and getting thrown as well as the holds. So many of the other parents were a bit surprised during the practice for the tournament, they told Jen that was the most aggressive they have ever seen Lily. Of course they have never seen her play soccer. LOL She is just a little peanut usually smaller than the other kids in her age group. But she is fast and determined. This picture is very fuzzy but I just love the look on her face. This was taken just as the call to engage and this one receiving her medal. You can really see the satisfaction on her face. Matt says Judo is called the gentle way you don't hit or kick. Just grab, trip, use your body weight and balance. Then hold them down. Watching those kids I will say that it isn't like Karate hitting and kicking but I'm not sure I would call it gentle. |
