Just turned 39. 2nd marriage for 5 years (almost 10 in my first marriage). 2 kids from first marriage (Matt 14 and Sarah 10). Leah my 2-yr old is the joy of my life right now! (isn't it funny how so many of us with l'il ones say that!!). I've been in to gardening for about 3 years now but was sidetracked for a year when Leah was first born. Did a lot of work this year and have LOTS more planned for this fall and next Spring. Next year is my garden year to shine!!! DH & I run an electronics manufacturing business in the remote control electric model business. Started 7 yrs ago as a part-time home-based business. We now employ 22 people including ourselves. I'm trying to scale back my hours now that we are successful and it's growing so fast, but I'm torn between spending more time with my kids and home life and working to make the business the best it can be. So I find myself oscillating between working ridiculous hours to taking a week off. It's pretty crazy! My background is as upper management in the Aerospace business in Marketing & Customer Management. DH is a hardware and software engineer and so our two backgrounds were a sure hit for success in our business. He designs and builds great things and I market them and insure the customer is always over-the-top pleased! We hope to grow the business to the multi-million $ level and sell it within the next 10 years and retire by 50. (OH I WISH!) As far as favorite plants it seems that whatever new thing I buy becomes my new passion. A quick list would be lilium, iris, daylilies, hosta and wildflowers. I've gotten into shade gardening big time this year with a new 75 sq ft bed. I battle a very boggy area in my yard and it's driving me insane. That and the 3 dogs that we have that can't distinguish between the lawn and a flower bed or ornamental plants and their dog food!! Oh and the bunnies and deer that are eating my hard work up.....what a challenge to co-exist with animals (domestic and otherwise). Like Donna (SoCal) I'm usually behind the camera and not in front of it, but here is Leah & I at Disneyworld last week! (That was a GREAT vacation! but HOT HOT HOT!) |
