Beth Ann Dougherty Devine, 32, of Blakely, died Saturday night at Commonwealth Hospice Inpatient Unit at Regional Hospital of Scranton after a courageous battle with melanoma. She was married to Stephen R. Devine on May 28, 2006. Born Jan. 23, 1981, in Scranton, daughter of Thomas J. Sr. and Ethel Honney Dougherty, she was a 1999 graduate of Valley View High School. Beth spent most of her career as a certified nurse's aide at the Lackawanna Health and Rehab Center, Peckville. Beth was the most loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend who will be missed by all. Beth loved taking family vacations, spending quality time with her children and relaxing with trips to the casino. Beth's family would like to thank everyone who supported the benefit for Beth in November and the staff at Regional Hospital Inpatient Hospice Unit for their care of Beth and her family. She is also survived by three children, Maddison, 11; Carson, 6; and Jackson, 2; two brothers, Thomas J. Dougherty, Lake Ariel; and Lt. Patrick J. Dougherty, Ph.D., Corpus Christi, Texas; a sister, Kelly A. Dougherty, Scranton; maternal grandfather, Joseph Honney, Scranton; two nephews, Collin and Alexander Dougherty; mother and father-in-law, Col. Patrick, U.S. Army, Ret., and Catherine A. Devine, Columbia, S.C.; a brother-in-law, Christopher S. Devine and wife, Jennifer, San Antonio, Texas; a sister-in-law, Jennifer L. Devine, Columbia; aunts, uncles and cousins. She was also preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Ethel F. Wormuth Honney; paternal grandparents, James F. and Harriet Ann Schoonover Dougherty; and cousin, Kaitlyn Dougherty. Funeral Eucharist will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 58 River St., Carbondale. The Rev. Donald Shaible will preside. Interment, Union Cemetery, Gino Merli Drive, Peckville. Friends are asked to go directly to the church on Wednesday morning. Friends may call Tuesday, 2 to 6 p.m., at Hudak-O'Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Ave., Olyphant.
