Then, because I was selling the house, I had to move to an apartment for a year (which I chose almost entirely for its large balcony and southern exposure). In pic 2 they are in pots, one large and two small. And they are at least two feet taller. I loved my view of them in front of the glorious burr oak that grew outside my unit. I had only seen tiny burr oaks, and thought them homely. This one was magnificent.

The Silk Roads grew up, and then leaned out. Passersby were very complimentary. Pic 3.

It didn't seem to matter that they were sharing their space with other lilies I was transitioning. One was in a pot with a rose and two other lilies! Pic. 4.

And the real surprise? For the first time, they grew two bulblets, which I have planted for bloom next year.
