My dragon is the largest at 8"x8". A tattoo should be a personal thing. Whether or not you get one is your choice.

A caveat...the thinner your skin is or if bone is right under the tattoo site, the more initial pain. Ankles, shoulder blades, elbows, back of knees, feet... Endorphins are released during the process and you'll feel the pain less. Lots of folks can even get addicted to the endorphins. I'm attempting to talk myself OUT of getting a fourth! LOL
