My gifts from my kids this winter were two kinds of Phaius orchids. Logee's site said they would be "blooming size plants" and my kids paid something like $25 each for them. When they arrived they were two very tiny starts nowhere near blooming size. By the time they bloom so I can see if they really are what was ordered, it will be too late to send them back. Maybe next spring, more likely 2014.

I protested, sent these pics to Logee's and got no response. Yes, they have a great selection of unusual stuff. But I really feel they charge too much and the value is not there.

In the first pic is the tiny start my kids bought from Logee's, and behind, a plant of same variety I got for $10 less at a local grower, that bloomed for nearly 2 months this spring. Ditto on the second, the little guy is the Logee's plant, (I repotted it into the clay pot) the other I got at the local Orchid Society show. Both same variety, $25 from Logee's, $12 for the other. The grower said even his big plant would not bloom until next spring!

Look around, I'll bet you can find better value for less money. Try Florida Hill Nurseries http://www.floridahillnursery.com or Tropiflora http://www.tropiflora.com if you're after tropicals.
