I've looked through my orders for the last several years, but don't find anything that sounds like them (maybe some of you who are more familiar with lily varieties and names will recognize it). I shouldn't call them 'little' - they are about 4' tall, but the blooms are small. In retrospect, I should not have planted them. The stems are so weak each one needs to be staked and the blooms, while quite lovely (an intense, dark burgundy) when seen up close, are so dark they are almost invisible in the border, unless you catch them in the sunlight, as I did, this morning. Looking through my orders, I see I've planted LOTS of lilies over the years. Some have been successful and remain strong winners (the large trumpet lilies seem to get bigger each year), others have dwindled or were poor performers that got edited out. Things are just starting to open, so I'm looking forward to a colorful year. |
