The only previous record of this butterfly was a stray that got blown in back in the 1980s with a hurricane. This is normally an east Texas species that we don't see in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. Populations in southeast Texas have been off the charts recently and a friend of mine in the Houston area has been amazed at how many are on the wing currently.
