Beginner Gardening: Will my Hydrangea Grow??, 1 by gardenergal17

Northeast Ohio (zone 6a) has had a very unseasonably warm Spring of 2012 where our Spring flowers have all blossomed and are now gone (late April), and our lilies are all sprouted and thriving, but there are no signs new growth on my Hydrangea. No hints of green. Got nothing. I have no experience with Hydrangeas. Will it grow eventually, or did I make a mistake by cutting it back so aggressively in the Fall??
