Last year we discovered a large collection of Jewel Black Raspberries (99% sure) on our property. My husband, who is obsessed with raspberries in general, has turned them into a pet project by transplanting them into a row along our fence in hopes of "gardening" them.

But we have a differing opinion on how we should care for them. As you can see from the picture, most of these canes are in excess of 8-10ft tall but with only 2 canes per plant. From what I've read, it's better to keep the canes at about 5ft to help promote more cane growth per plant and thus have bushier plants with more fruit. My husband on the other hand is adamant that we should keep them at their long length because "the two canes that they have are good thick canes". I think he's just in love with the epic-ness of their height.

Can someone please steer us in the right direction so we can get these plants to produce the most and best fruit for us?
