Insect and Spider Identification: Help Me Identify this bug on my bed and carpet, 1 by ericgrau

They are dark brown or blackish with white/light-brown spots around the edges. They seem to have non-functional wings under the shell, or at least they don't try to use them to get away from me. They are about 1/4" long by 1/8" wide. The head is about 1/10th their length or smaller.

Can anyone tell me what it is?
