I was dead serious about birding the north slope! Barrow, Alaska is a popular birding destination. In addition to Snowy Owls nesting, four species Eiders, and artic shorebirds are a major draw. Everything is extremely expensive there because it has to be flown in, and a permit must be purchase from the Eskimo Cooperation which owns the land.
The problem is I finance my travels by operating a small plant nursery during May and June, which is the time to be birding the area.
