I heard Dennis Cathcart from Tropiflora speak on cold hardy broms a few years ago and he mentioned it is a good idea to keep them in pots. Even in the garden, you can just sink the pots or build up the mulch around them. Certainly makes it easier to bring them inside if necessary. This one, Neo 'Zoe', was in a 6" pot for years, it was just sitting in the hanging basket which was full of long fibered sphagnum moss.
