I come in the house this morning after chores and I heard baby chick sounds,dh is watching tv and the incubator is a few feet form him and I said I hear baby chick sounds! He never heard them to engrossed in tv(thats a man for you)so I have 5 eggs in there and really did not think they would hatch. They are from my flock with a very young rooster and last monday I had to take them out of the incubator and put them in my 20.00 dollar one the holds 5 silkie eggs (very tightly)and is heated with a christmas light bulb, then the bulb blew and I didn`t know when and the eggs were a little cold and I only turned them once a day cause I didn`t want to lose the heat in there, sometimes it would go up to 101 and then most of the time it was 98.The reason I had to take them out was they and some others were in the turner and the others were ready to stop turning and go into lock down, that was last Monday,so they went back in the big icubator four days ago and was not even shore of the hatch date, but had it marked for today on the calender. So when peaple worry about opening up the incubator and humidity and all the other things I think I proved them wrong.LOL Don`t know if they will all hatch.I will try to put it under broody with chicks that are 10 days old, will make sure it knows how to eat and drink first, hope there is more than one that hatches.Well thats my story for today.
