Insect and Spider Identification: CLOSED: friend near yosemite is trying to identify these, 1 by bokisan

he's got several of these, and can't find out what they are

he says they're fast, close to the ground, when the get riled.
about the size of a silver dollar hanging in their webs.
and that the webs seem somewhat irregular, and quite large, "the longest I've seen has been 35 feet long and about 7 feet high spun from tree to tree!"

these should be pretty good clues for flap or kwan
