he's got several of these, and can't find out what they are

i told him not to worry, as it is not dangerous, but i'm wondering what they are

he says they're fast, close to the ground, when the get riled.
about the size of a silver dollar hanging in their webs.
and that the webs seem somewhat irregular, and quite large, "the longest I've seen has been 35 feet long and about 7 feet high spun from tree to tree!"

these should be pretty good clues for flap or kwan
