Things grow really fast in the 'outdoor greenhouse' down here. I'd think they'll both grow slower where you are since you have cool nights even in summer. If you cut them back or keep them dormant all winter that will slow them down, too. That being said, it's not a bad thing to keep these growing slowly when you have to take them indoors all winter. Mine will be 10' by 10' in a couple more years.
