Your begonia resembles my clumping ones, similar leaf type, except smaller (see pic). As far as I've been able to tell, they are a fibrous-rooted type. I' m excited to know yours came back after the cold weather! The first little begonia you showed, are the lower leaves shiny or just wet?

Your project looks like it's begging for some bromeliads or something! Very cool 'gnarly' piece of wood. I'd like something like that for a base for my glass tabletop.
